Umiya Agro Industries

Located at 860 Khawash Ji Ka Rasta on Hawa Mahal Road, Umiya Agro Industries is right in the middle of a very crowded area. It’s hard to believe how many people pass by our door every single day. We deal with agro products, which means we spend a lot of time talking to farmers and people from out of town. The shop is full of the smell of seeds and fertilizers, which isn't for everyone, but we like it. It’s a narrow building, so we have to be very careful about how we stack the bags so they don't fall over. We don't have a big office; it’s just a small corner with a stool and a table where we keep our records. The street outside is so narrow that getting deliveries in is always a bit of a struggle with the rickshaws and bikes everywhere. We don’t have a lot of help, so we end up doing most of the heavy lifting ourselves. It’s a lot of work to keep track of all the different types of seeds we have in stock. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to sit in the dark for a bit, but we just keep the doors open anyway. We’ve been in this spot for a while now and we know the rhythms of the market. It’s just a basic business run by people who know their trade. It's not fancy but it's ours. We just keep doing what we do.
