Tanu Kirana & General Store

Our place is out on Sikar Road near the New Loha Mandi area. It is a very dusty part of town because of all the trucks and the construction going on around Balaji Bihar. I spend half my morning just dusting the packets of biscuits and the soap bars. Tanu Kirana & General Store is not a huge fancy place. It is just a room filled with what people need. Being on Road 14 means we see a lot of people passing through. Some stay for a bit to chat while others are in a big rush. I have to keep track of everything coming in from the wholesalers. Sometimes they forget half the order and I have to call them three times. It gets frustrating but that is part of the job here in Harmada. The light inside the store is a bit dim in the corners so I have to use a torch sometimes to find things at the back. We keep the basics like lentils, oil, and cleaning supplies. The floor gets dirty fast with all the foot traffic from the road. I sweep it whenever I get a quiet moment. In the afternoon it gets very quiet and I just sit on the stool and watch the cars go by. It is a long day starting early and closing late. I do not really think about it much, I just do the work and go home.
