Swami Kirana Store

We are located right on National Highway 8 in the Kotputli Bazar area of Paota. Since we are on the highway, we see a lot of different people every day. Some are locals from the bazar and some are travelers stopping for a bit. It’s a kirana store, so we focus on the main food items like grains, pulses, spices, and oil. We have big sacks of flour and rice stacked near the entrance. The floor is concrete and we try to keep it clean but with all the dust from the highway, it’s hard. The bazar is a very loud and busy place with people shouting and horns honking all the time. We have a heavy wooden counter where we weigh everything on an old scale. Sometimes we have to deal with large orders for local weddings or functions, which keeps us very busy for days. The sun gets really strong here in Rajasthan, so we have thick curtains we pull halfway down in the heat of the day. We don't have any fancy decorations, just the products stacked up on shelves and on the floor. Most of our customers are farmers or people living in the nearby villages who come to the bazar to buy their monthly supplies. We know what most of them want before they even ask. It’s a basic life but the business keeps us moving and we have been in this spot for many years.
