Subakhera Seed Private Limited is run by the family of Bachitar Singh, right here in Subakhera village. We’ve lived here forever, and the business is just an extension of what we’ve always done on the farm. Farming is in our blood, so moving into the seed business felt like the natural thing for us to do. We don't have a big corporate building or a reception desk. Most of the work happens right in the village, near the fields where we grow and test things out. People know us as the sons of Bachitar Singh, and that means something to us in terms of reputation. We try to keep our word and do right by the people who buy from us. It’s a lot of manual work, cleaning and bagging seeds by hand, and making sure they’re stored properly so they don't spoil in the heat. Village life is slow but it stays busy in its own way. We don't use any fancy marketing tricks because everyone knows everyone else here anyway. If our seeds weren't any good, we wouldn't be able to show our faces at the local tea shop without feeling ashamed. We just want to provide decent seeds that help the local crops flourish as they should. It’s a simple goal, but it takes up nearly all of our time. We’re proud to be working from Subakhera and keeping the family name going through this honest work. It keeps us going.
