Somani Sarees

Somani Sarees is sitting right at 759 Jat Ke Kuye Ka Rasta in the Chandpole Bazar area. This part of the city is very old, and you can feel it in the air when you walk through. The lanes are tight, and our shop is part of that old stone structure. We have been selling sarees here for years, mostly to families who have been living in Chandpole for generations. The shop isn't modern at all. We have wooden cupboards and old-fashioned counters that have been here since the beginning. We keep a variety of sarees, mostly cottons and some printed ones that are popular around here for the heat. The lighting inside is a bit dim, but it helps keep the place cool during the hot Jaipur summers. We usually spend our mornings checking the new bundles that come in from the weavers. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting and carrying things up and down. Sometimes the monkeys on the roof make a lot of noise, which is just part of being in this neighborhood. We don't have a website or anything like that. If people want to see what we have, they just come down to the shop. We offer them a glass of water, show them the latest prints, and talk about the weather or the local news. It’s a slow pace of life inside the shop, even if the bazar outside is completely chaotic with people and rickshaws.
