If you reach the temple, you’re basically there. This shop, number 2152, has been around for a long time. The lanes here are narrow, so don't even try to bring a big car inside. It’s mostly walking or scooters. We handle things in a very traditional way. There’s a lot of history in these walls. The ceiling is high and the floor is stone. We deal with people face-to-face every day. It’s not like the new malls where everything is impersonal. Here, we know the names of the people who come in. We stock what people need in this area. It gets very crowded during festival times. You can barely move in the street then. We keep our records in thick books. My grandfather did it that way, and it still works fine today. Sometimes the electricity goes out for an hour, so we keep a flashlight handy. It’s a simple life. We open early and close when the market gets quiet. There's no fancy sign out front, just the address and our name. People find us because we’ve been here and they trust the spot. It's a bit dusty and the shelves are old, but we like it this way. There's a certain comfort in the routine of the bazar that you just can't find in the newer parts.
