Shri United Departmental Store

We’re located at No. 71/03 in the Central Market on Madhyam Mg in Mansarovar. This part of Mansarovar is always bustling, and being in the Central Market means there’s never a dull moment. Shri United Departmental Store isn't some giant supermarket; it’s more of a local place where we try to pack in as much as possible. The shelves go all the way to the ceiling, and I often have to use a long pole or a ladder to get things down for people. It gets pretty warm in the summer, even with the fans going, but we’re used to it by now. The floor is made of old tiles that have seen better days, and the door squeaks every time someone walks in. We don’t spend much on advertising or anything like that. Most people find us because they’re already shopping in the market for vegetables or clothes. It’s a lot of manual work, unloading the trucks and carrying bags, but it’s part of the job. I’ve been working here for years, and I’ve seen the market change quite a bit, though our shop stays mostly the same. We just keep our heads down and focus on keeping the stock levels right. If we don’t have something, we try to get it in for the next week. It’s just a regular daily grind in a busy market and we like being part of it.
