Our shop is tucked into the ground floor of Anukampa Mansion on the Gopalpura Bypass. If you walk in, the first thing you notice is the heavy smell of dried tea leaves. It’s a strong, earthy scent that sticks to your clothes by the end of the day. We spend most of our hours weighing out different grades of tea and sealing them into bags. There are big sacks piled up in the corners, mostly from the gardens in the east. Some customers come in knowing exactly what they want, while others just want a small packet for their morning pot at home. The bypass is always busy with traffic, so there’s a constant hum of cars outside our door. We keep the counter clear for bagging and marking prices. It’s a simple setup with wooden shelves and a few scales that have seen better days. We don't do anything flashy here. We just focus on the tea and making sure the stock doesn't sit for too long. Sometimes we try a new blend ourselves in the back room to see how it tastes. It’s a quiet kind of work compared to the noise outside. We’ve known some of the people who stop by for years. They usually stay for a quick chat about the weather or the traffic before heading back out. It’s just how we run things day to day.
