Shri Barayaj Sarees

Down in Chandpole Bazar, things feel a bit more traditional than the newer parts of the city. We are Shri Barayaj Sarees, located at A 9 Khajane Walon Ka Rasta. It is a famous lane for a reason, but it can be a bit of a maze if you are not used to the turns. Our shop isn't hard to find once you get onto the Rasta. We keep a good variety of sarees, mostly things that local families look for when there is a big event or a festival coming up. We aren't some big corporate chain. It is just a family-run kind of place where things move at their own pace. Sometimes we are very busy with five people talking at once, and other times it is just us sitting and watching the street. The address is A 9 Khajane Walon Ka Rasta, Chandpole Bazar. We have seen the market change over the years, but the way people buy sarees stays mostly the same. They want to touch the fabric and see how it drapes over their shoulder. We don't use any high-tech gadgets to sell things. We just show the work on the fabric. It gets quite warm in the afternoons, but the stone walls of the old buildings keep it a bit cooler than the street outside. We are just here doing our thing every day, keeping the shelves stocked and the floors clean. It is a decent way to live.
