Shri Agarwal Sarees

Over at B-42 Khajnaewalo Ka Rasta in Indira Bazar, you’ll find Shri Agarwal Sarees. It’s tucked away in a spot that might be easy to miss if you aren't looking closely, but we have a steady flow of people coming through most days. The street outside is narrow, so there’s always a lot of shouting and bells ringing from cycles passing by. Inside, we have rows of shelves that are packed tight with different colors. We mostly focus on sarees that people in the neighborhood need for daily use or local weddings. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we are usually too busy moving boxes around to worry about that. My nephew helps me out during the busy season when things get a bit crazy. We start our day early, sweeping the front and getting the displays ready. Sometimes the rain leaks a little near the door when it’s heavy, so we have to be careful with where we put the silk pieces. It’s a very local atmosphere here. We know most of the people who walk past our door every morning. We don't have any big signs or bright posters to attract attention. We just have the sarees and a few stools for people to rest on while they browse. It’s a straightforward business. We buy what we think will sell and we show it to whoever is interested. It’s been this way for a long time, and we don't see any reason to change it now.
