Shree Aanant Departmental Store

Shree Aanant Departmental Store is tucked away at 503, Gokuldham, on Janpath Lane No 6 in Nirman Nagar. We are in the Rani Sati Nagar part of Jaipur, which is a fairly residential spot. Being a departmental store, we try to keep a bit of everything so people don’t have to drive out to the main markets for small things. We have bags of flour, spices, oils, and even some plastic buckets and mops. It’s a lot to keep track of, and sometimes the stock room gets a bit messy, but we know where everything is kept. The building, Gokuldham, is easy enough to find once you are on the right lane. Jaipur gets really hot in the summer, so we keep the doors half-closed to keep the sun out, but people still find their way in. Most of our customers are families who live in the apartments and houses nearby. We’ve known some of them for years now. We don't have those fancy scanners for billing; we just count it up and tell you the price. It's a bit old-fashioned but it works for a neighborhood shop like ours. We start early to catch the milk deliveries and stay open until the dinner rush is over. It's a lot of standing around and talking to neighbors, but it's a good way to spend the day in Nirman Nagar.
