Shivam Departmental Store

Our store is located in the Chitrakut Shopping Centre, which is a pretty well-known spot on Ajmer Road here in Jaipur. We’ve been at 4/25 for quite a while. It’s a departmental store, so we carry a bit of everything, from snacks to cleaning supplies. Jaipur gets really hot, so people like coming into the shade of the shopping center. We spend a lot of time dusting the shelves because of the wind and the traffic on Ajmer Road. It’s a constant job keeping things neat. We aren't a big chain, just a local business trying to keep up with what the families in the area need. Sometimes we run out of things and have to wait for the next truck, but we try our best to stay stocked. The 302006 area has grown a lot, and there are more shops around us now than there used to be. We know our customers by name mostly. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting heavy sacks and counting inventory by hand. We don't use any fancy systems, just a simple way of doing things that has worked for years. If someone is looking for a specific spice or a certain brand of tea, they know to check with us. We just focus on getting through the day and making sure the shop is ready for the next one. It’s a busy life but it’s what we know and we just keep at it.
