Running Shiv Shakti Mechanicals out here in the Sarna Dungar Industrial Area means you get used to the dust and the heat of Jaipur pretty fast. Our place covers a few plots, H 459-460 and H1 463-464, so it’s a fairly large setup for all the mechanical work we do. There is always the sound of metal hitting metal and the hum of the grinders going. It’s not the kind of place you’d wear a suit to, that’s for sure. Most of us end up with grease on our hands by lunch. Jhotwara is a busy part of town, so there are always trucks moving in and out of the lane. We’ve got a lot of heavy machinery that takes up most of the floor space, leaving just enough room to walk around. It gets really hot in the summer, so we have big fans running constantly, but they mostly just move the warm air around. We don't really have a big signs or flashy lights outside. People usually find us by the sound of the shop or because they’ve been coming here for years. The office part is just a small room in the corner with a couple of old desks and a filing cabinet that’s seen better days. We just keep our heads down and handle whatever jobs come in, whether they are small repairs or bigger projects.
