Shiv General Store

We have been here for a good while now, and the place has become a regular stop for many families living nearby. You can find things like flour, rice, different kinds of lentils, and those little snacks the kids always ask for after school. The shop isn't anything fancy to look at. It has old wooden shelves that we’ve put up ourselves and a simple counter where we sit most of the day. Jaipur can get really hot, so we usually have the fan going full blast, which makes it hard to hear sometimes when the road gets noisy outside. We don't have a lot of space, so things are often stacked up high in the corners. Sometimes when a big shipment of supplies comes in, the whole floor gets covered in boxes for a few hours until we can get everything put away properly. We don't have a computer or anything like that. We just write everything down in a big ledger and use a small calculator for the totals. It’s a bit of a slow process if there are five people waiting at once, but our neighbors are usually patient with us. We just try to make sure the basics are always in stock so nobody has to go without.
