S K Bandhani is located right near the bus stop at Purohit Ji Ka Katla in Johari Bazar. Being so close to the bus stop means there is never a quiet moment. You can hear the engines idling and the people rushing to catch their ride. Our shop is tucked away and doesn’t have a big front, so you have to look for it. Inside, it is mostly just shelves and stacks of goods. We spend most of our hours sorting through everything and making sure it’s all in the right place. The walls are a plain color and have some cracks here and there, but we don't mind. It’s an old building in an old part of town. Johari Bazar has a lot of history and you can feel it when you walk through the narrow lanes of the katla. We sit on small stools most of the day while we work. The air is often filled with the smell of the market—tea, street food, and a bit of exhaust from the buses. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who have been doing this for a long time. We know the regular faces who pass by every day. Sometimes we share a laugh with the neighbor shops when things are slow. It is a simple existence, focused on the inventory and the daily grind of the bazar. We just keep the doors open and stay busy until it’s time to head home.
