Royalvilas Palace & Resort is actually managed from Shop No. 1 in Metro Plaza. This is inside the Sikar House Cloth Market in Jaipur. It’s a very different environment from the resorts themselves. The cloth market is always packed with people, rickshaws, and stacks of fabric. Our shop is small, but it’s where all the decisions happen. We sit here among the noise of the market to handle the bookings for our palace and resort properties. It’s quite a contrast. Outside there’s chaos, but inside we are trying to organize stays for people. We’ve been in Jaipur for a long time. The office is filled with ledgers and old computers. We spend our mornings coordinating with the staff at the actual resort sites, making sure the food is ready and the rooms are clean. Working in Sikar House means we are right in the middle of the city’s trade. Sometimes it’s hard to even get to the door because of the delivery trucks. We don’t have a fancy corporate structure. It’s mostly family and a few trusted workers. We take our tea from the stall next door and talk about the day’s work. There’s no big mission statement on the wall. We just want to make sure the business stays profitable and the guests are satisfied. It’s a lot of phone calls and checking lists. That’s what a day at Royalvilas looks like.
