The shop is at 37 Main Road, right on Hawa Mahal Road where all the traffic goes by. I’ve been sitting in this spot for a lot of years now. If you look out the front door, you see the tourists and the locals mixing together on the sidewalk. Inside, we have rows of shelves filled with sarees. Some are cotton for the summer heat and others are more heavy for when people have parties or weddings to go to. I try to keep things organized but sometimes when it gets busy, the stacks get a bit messy. It’s just how it goes when you’re showing twenty different patterns to one person. The light in here isn't the brightest, but we know where everything is kept. My family has been around this part of town for ages. We open up early and stay until the sun goes down. Sometimes the tea man comes by and we take a quick break. Most people come in looking for something specific they saw on a neighbor or in a picture. We don’t have fancy displays, just the clothes and some stools for you to sit on while we pull things down from the top shelves. Hawa Mahal Road is always loud, so you get used to the horns and the shouting. It’s a good spot though. We just keep doing what we do every day, folding and unfolding, making sure the shop stays decent.
