Roop Laxmi Engineers is tucked away in the middle of Chandpole Bazar. If you know the 4th crossing at Kalyanji Ka Rasta, that is exactly where you will find our small workshop. We handle a lot of metal work and various mechanical bits that people bring in. It is always noisy here and there is usually grease on someone’s hands or clothes. We have been at this location for a good many years now. The bazaar is always crowded with people and scooters, so getting parts delivered can be a real headache sometimes. My father was the one who started this shop, and now we just keep the machines running every day. It is definitely not a shiny showroom. It is a practical place where things get fixed or made from scratch. We have a few old lathes and some newer tools we bought recently. The floor is usually covered in metal shavings by the time noon rolls around. We take our tea breaks right outside by the door and watch the crowd go by. Most of our customers are locals who have known us since we were kids playing in these streets. It is a tight space for all the work we do, but we make it work. Sometimes we have to stay late when a job is urgent for a client. That is just how life goes in the bazaar. We do not do any advertising or anything like that. People just know where we are.
