You can find Rockwood Furniture at 5 Devi Nagar, right off the New Sanganer Road. If you walk inside, the first thing you are going to notice is the smell of sawdust and wood glue. It is a strong smell and it sticks to your clothes, but we have grown used to it over the years. We spend our days cutting wood and putting pieces together. It is physical work and our hands are usually pretty rough because of it. We don't have a polished showroom with air conditioning and fancy salesmen. Instead, you get to see the workshop where the furniture actually gets built. There are tools everywhere and piles of wood waiting to be sanded down. New Sanganer Road is always moving, so we get a lot of noise from the bikes and cars outside. We have been in Devi Nagar for a while and we know most of the shop owners around us. Sometimes we sit outside for a tea break and watch the people go by. We aren't trying to be the biggest furniture place in the city. We just like making things that people can actually use in their houses. The furniture we make is sturdy and simple. It is the kind of stuff we would have in our own homes. We just take it one day at a time and try to keep the saws sharp.
