Rockwood Furniture & Craft Works

Rockwood Furniture & Craft Works is tucked away at number 5 in Devi Nagar. If you know New Sanganer Road, you know it stays pretty noisy with all the cars and bikes going past. We have been in this little corner for some years. It’s not a huge factory or anything, just a place where we get the work done. There is always a smell of polish or sawdust in the air here. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, and we just sit outside on the stools until it comes back. We make things, mostly out of wood, and we try to do it right the first time so nobody has to come back with a complaint. It’s a small team, just a few of us who have known each other a long time. We don’t spend money on big ads or flashy signs. Most people find us because they live nearby or their cousin told them we do okay work. The shop gets a bit messy when we have three or four projects going at once. Tools are usually scattered on the benches, and we spend half the morning looking for a specific hammer. It’s just how a workshop is. We like being in Devi Nagar because it’s a regular neighborhood. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in Jaipur, just trying to keep the doors open and the wood moving.
