Riddhi Siddhi Handloom

Our place is near Jhotwara Main and right opposite the Rupayan Vivah Sthal. If you are on Khatipura Road and heading toward Gopal Ji Ka Rasta you will see where we are. We have been doing handloom work here for a long time. The sound of the looms is something you get used to after a while. It is a steady rhythm that fills the shop. We have different threads and fabrics piled up everywhere. It looks a bit messy to an outsider but we know where everything is. Being across from the wedding hall means we see a lot of celebrations and people dressed up. Sometimes the road gets blocked by a wedding procession and we just stand outside and watch for a bit. The handloom process is slow and you cannot rush it. If you try to go too fast the thread snaps and you have to start that section over. We don't use big machines that do everything automatically. It is mostly hand work and foot pedals. Our chairs are a bit squeaky and the floor is concrete. It is just a plain workspace where we make things. We don't have a fancy showroom. People just come in and see what we have on the tables. We keep working through the heat and the cold. It is just our life. Sometimes we get a lot of dust from the road when the wind blows but we just sweep it out and keep going.
