Rashmi Wastralya

Our shop is tucked into Dangayach Mansion over in Sanganer. It is a small place at number 4 but we keep it pretty full of stock. Rashmi Wastralya is where we spend most of our daylight hours. Sanganer is always busy with people moving around and the noise from the street comes right in through the door. We have shelves lined with all kinds of cloth and ready-to-wear pieces that we have picked out over the months. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded when a few families come in at once, but we make do with the space we have. There is a specific smell to new fabric that hits you as soon as you walk inside. We spend a lot of time folding and refolding things because people like to feel the material before they decide on anything. The lighting in the mansion isn't always the brightest, so we sometimes take the fabric out to the front to show the real color in the sun. It is a basic way of doing things but it works for us and the people who live around here. We do not have any fancy computer systems for the bills; mostly just a notebook and a pen that sits on the counter. It is just a regular local shop where we know most of the faces that walk in. We have been here at Dangayach Mansion for quite some time now and plan to stay.
