Ranas Saree Emporium

Ranas Saree Emporium is over at 202 and 203 in Johari Bazar. If you’ve ever walked through the bazaar, you know how it feels with all the people and the narrow lanes. We have been in this spot for a long time now. The shop is filled with sarees from top to bottom. It can get a bit overwhelming for some folks because there is so much to look at. We spend our days pulling things out and folding them back up again. Johari Bazar is a place with a lot of history, and our shop is just a part of that daily bustle. We don't have some fancy mission statement. We just sell sarees to anyone who walks in the door. Sometimes it’s a local person we’ve known for years, and other times it’s a tourist who looks a bit lost in the market. We try to be helpful without being pushy. There is a lot of dust in the air from the street, so we have to keep dusting the counters constantly. We drink a lot of tea while we work and talk about the weather or the local news with the other shopkeepers nearby. It’s not a polished corporate office. It is a real shop with real people working hard. We like being in the heart of the city where everything is happening. It makes the long hours feel a bit shorter when there is always something to see outside.
