Pink City Kumawati Kirana Store

The Pink City Kumawati Kirana Store is tucked away on New Sanganer Road in Sodala. Jaipur is a big city, but our part of it feels a bit more like a close-knit community. Our shop is just a regular kirana store where we sell the things people use in their kitchens every single day. We don't have bright neon lights or a big team of workers. It is just a few of us making sure the bags of rice and wheat are stacked properly and that we don't run out of the spices people need for their evening meals. The road outside is always busy with cars and bikes, so it can get a bit loud, but once you step inside, it is just the usual smell of grains and tea. We spend a lot of our time just tidying up the shelves and writing down what we need to order for the next week. It is a lot of manual work, moving heavy items around and making sure nothing goes to waste. We don't have any big mission statements or anything like that. We just want to be the place where a neighbor can come and get a kilo of sugar without having to wait in a long line. Sometimes we get the order slightly wrong or the delivery is late, but we always try to make it right. It is a simple life running a shop in Sodala.
