You can find us over at 168 Indira Bazar. We run a kirana store here, which basically means we spend our days weighing out lentils, rice, and flour for the families in the neighborhood. It’s a steady kind of life. My brother and I usually handle the counter and the stocking. We get our supplies delivered a few times a week, so there’s always boxes piled up near the entrance that we have to move out of the way. The shop is tucked into a busy row of businesses. It's not the biggest place, but we try to keep the essentials in stock so no one has to go too far for their cooking needs. We’ve got jars of spices lined up and bags of grains stacked on the floor. Most days are pretty much the same. We talk to the regulars about the weather or how the prices of oil are going up again. There’s no big corporate plan here, just a local shop trying to stay useful. Sometimes the light in the back flickers and we keep forgetting to fix it. That's just how things go. We keep a ledger for the people who pay at the end of the month.
