Pandit Vishnu Dutt Shashtri

I've been here at 141 Shivaji Nagar in Jhotwara for quite a while now. Most people around here just know me as Pandit Vishnu Dutt Shashtri and they drop by the house whenever there is a wedding coming up or someone needs a housewarming puja done. It is not really a fancy place with a big sign or anything, just a normal house where I keep all my books and the things I need for the ceremonies. Jhotwara is a busy area so there is always noise from the street, but once you step inside, it is a bit quieter. I started doing this because it’s what I know. My father did it too. I spend a lot of my time reading or talking to the neighbors who have questions about dates for festivals. Sometimes the tea gets cold because someone stops by to talk about their stars or a problem they are having at home. It’s a simple life. I don't have a team of people or a secretary. If you call, you just talk to me directly. Usually, I am out in the mornings for rituals, so afternoons are better for visiting. The door at 141 is usually open unless I’m traveling to a client's place. I like being part of the community here and seeing the families grow over the years. It feels good when someone I did a naming ceremony for years ago comes back as a young adult.
