Pandit Kirana

Pandit Kirana is just a small place on New Sanganer Road near the Gurjar Ki Thadi crossing. Sodala is always crowded with bikes and cars zooming past, so there is always a lot of noise. I started this shop because I wanted to stay in this part of Jaipur. We sell basic things like wheat flour, different types of dal, and cooking oil. Most of the time, I am busy weighing out items or looking for change in the drawer. People stop by on their way home from work to pick up milk or maybe some biscuits for their kids. It is a simple routine that stays the same every day. The shelves are made of old wood and sometimes they look a bit cluttered, but I know where every single packet of spice is hidden. When it rains, the water splashes near the entrance and I have to move the sacks inside. I don't use any computer for the bills, just a simple notebook and a pen. It works fine for us. My neighbors from around the crossing come in to talk about the latest news while they wait for their orders. It is not some big supermarket with air conditioning. It is just a regular kirana store where you get what you need without any fuss. I have been here so many years that I know most people by their names and what they usually buy on Saturdays.
