Pandit Kamal Sharma Rai

Pandit Kamal Sharma Rai here. We’ve been set up on New Sanganer Road for a good while now. It’s a busy stretch of road, always cars going by, but inside it stays pretty quiet most days. I spend most of my mornings getting things ready before the first people start showing up. Some days are packed and others are just a few regular faces coming by to talk or ask about things. It isn’t a fancy place, just a simple setup with some chairs and the usual items we need for our work. I usually have tea around eleven and that’s when the neighborhood starts getting really noisy outside. Most people find us just by walking past or hearing about the place from someone else nearby. New Sanganer Road has changed a lot since we first got here, more shops and more traffic than before. We keep the doors open usually unless it’s too dusty out. My desk is right near the back where it’s a bit cooler. I try to keep things organized but sometimes the papers pile up when I’m busy. It’s just how it goes when you’re running things yourself. People come in with all sorts of questions, and we just sit and talk through whatever is on their minds. No big speeches or anything like that. Just plain talk and looking at what needs to be done for them. It’s a steady life here.
