If you are driving near the Govt Hostel Circle Choraha, you’ve probably seen P. L. Motors Ltd. We are right there at Bhagwati Bhawan on Tonk Road, which is a pretty hectic intersection most of the time. Being near M I Road means there is never a quiet moment. We deal with motors and vehicles all day long. The shop floor is usually greasy, and there is always the sound of someone revving an engine or tools clanking together. It’s a big space but it feels small because we have so many parts and cars tucked into every corner. We’ve been operating out of this building for years. Most of us have been working here so long we can find a specific wrench with our eyes closed. Customers come in looking for repairs or just to ask about a noise their car is making. We don't have a fancy waiting lounge with a TV. You usually just stand by the counter or wait outside where it’s a bit cooler. The sun hits the front of the building pretty hard in the afternoons, so we keep the fans running full blast. Dealing with traffic and the heat is just part of the job here. We focus on getting the engines running right so people can get back on the road. It’s messy work, but it’s what we do. Every day is different depending on what breaks down that morning. We usually stay open until the last car is finished and the tools are put away.
