P K Kirana Store

I’m over here at B-289 in Sector-8, Old Vidyadhar Nagar. The P K Kirana Store has been in this spot for a while now. It’s a quiet residential area, so most of my business comes from the families living in the nearby blocks. I open up early because there’s always someone who forgot to buy milk for their morning chai. The shop is tucked away a bit, so you have to know where you’re going to find it. I have a lot of jars filled with different kinds of pulses and beans lined up on the counter. Some are glass and some are plastic. The sunlight hits the front window in the afternoon and makes it really warm inside, so I usually sit near the back where the sacks of onions are kept. It’s cooler there. I spend a lot of my time writing down credits in a big thick register for the regulars. Everyone knows everyone around here. I don't carry any fancy brands, just the stuff people actually use every day in their kitchens. Sometimes the power goes out and I have to light a couple of candles so people can see the shelves. It’s just a small, practical store. I don’t have any helpers, so if I’m busy unloading a truck, customers just have to wait a minute. That’s just how it works here in Sector-8. We keep things simple and honest, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
