Running Om Flour Meal & Kirana Store keeps us busy from dawn till dusk. We are situated on Bajri Mandi Road over in Panchyawala, Vaishali Nagar. It’s a good location for us because a lot of people pass by on their way home. Our main thing is the flour mill part of the shop. You can hear the machines humming for most of the day as we grind grain for the local families. Freshly ground flour has a specific smell that fills up the whole space. Besides the milling, we have a section for regular kirana goods too. We keep things like lentils, sugars, and soaps on the shelves. It’s a bit dusty sometimes because of the flour, but that’s just how it is in this line of work. We spend our time weighing bags and making sure the scales are accurate. It’s not a large operation, just a practical one that serves the neighborhood. Most of our customers live within walking distance. They come in with their own cloth bags or containers sometimes. We talk about the weather or the local news while we pack their items. There isn't any fancy decor here, just wooden shelves and sacks of grain on the floor. It is honest work and it keeps us connected to the people around us. We’ve been here long enough that we know which families prefer which type of grain. It's just a regular day-to-day life for us.
