Nisnavat Farmer Producer Company Limited is based down here in Kushalgarh, which is part of Banswara. If you know this part of Rajasthan, you know it is quite different from the desert areas. We work out of Mithiyaji Devda’s place in Nisnavat. It is a bit of a drive to get here, but this is where the farming actually happens. We started this because we wanted a way for the local people to sell their crops without getting cheated by middle men. There are a lot of challenges with the soil and the rain in Banswara, so we try to help each other out with whatever knowledge we have. It’s not a polished business with a glass office. It’s just us sitting together, talking about the prices of maize or whatever else is growing that month. The address is a bit long, C/O Mithiyaji Devda in Nisnavat, Banswara, 327001. We mostly deal with the people right here in the village. It’s hard work and the sun is hot, but having a collective makes the burden feel a little lighter for everyone involved. We don't have a lot of fancy equipment, just the basics that get the job done. People around here know where to find us if they have questions about their crops. We are just local farmers trying to make a living and keep the community going through the tough seasons.
