We are located over on Jain Nashiya Road, right near the Jain Hostel in Sanganer. If you know this area, you know it’s all about the textiles and the colors. At New Dyeco India, we spend our time dealing with dyes and the materials people need for their fabric work. Sanganer has that specific smell of wet earth and dye in the air, and our shop is right in the middle of all that activity. The floor usually has a few stains on it because things get messy when you’re mixing and moving colors all day. We have bags of pigments and bottles of different chemicals lined up on the back shelves. It’s not a place where you’ll find fancy displays or bright lights. It’s a working shop for people who know what they want. People from the local printing units come in to get what they need for their next batch of cloth. We talk a lot about shades, fastness, and how the weather affects the drying process. Sometimes the heavy rain slows everything down in the market, but there’s always something to organize or clean. We’ve got a small wooden desk where we do the bills, and most of the rest of the space is just for the stock. It’s a quiet enough street compared to the main road, which is nice for us. We just focus on getting the right materials to the people who make the famous Sanganeri prints. It’s practical work, and we’ve been doing it this way for a long time now.
