N K Kirana Store

I've been at this spot on the NBC Link Road for quite some time now. People around Hatwada Road know the shop well. It's just a regular kirana place. I open up early, usually before the sun gets too high over Jaipur. My shelves are full of the usual things like lentils, bags of flour, and different spices that everyone uses for cooking at home. It gets busy in the mornings when folks are heading to work or making breakfast. Sometimes the supply trucks come late and I have to wait around to unload crates. The shop isn't fancy, just a room with some wooden racks and a counter. My family helps out when things get crowded. We talk to the regulars about the weather or how the road works are going outside. It's a lot of lifting heavy sacks and weighing out sugar. The dust from the road comes in, so I’m always wiping down the glass jars. We stay open until late evening. It’s a simple life here in Jaipur G P O area. Most people just call out what they need and I pack it up in newspapers or plastic bags. There is no computer here, just a small notebook for keeping track of what I need to order next week. It’s just how we do things every day. I really hope the traffic on the link road gets better soon because it makes a lot of noise.
