Mohammed Rahil Kalam

This is where I work, at 13 Malviya Nagar in the Puran Bari area of Model Town. My name is Mohammed Rahil Kalam and this is my professional space. It’s a fairly quiet part of Malviya Nagar, which helps when I need to focus. The office is just a part of the building, nothing too large. I have my computer, a lot of notebooks, and a shelf full of reference materials that I’ve collected over the years. Some of the books are starting to lose their covers. I spend most of my day sitting at the desk, typing away or talking to people who drop by for advice or services. The tea guy comes by twice a day, and that’s usually my only break. I don’t have a big staff or a receptionist. If the door is open, you can just walk in. The walls are a simple off-white color and I have a small calendar pinned up to keep track of dates. Model Town is a nice place to be based; it feels established and steady. Sometimes the street gets blocked because of a local function, and I just work through the noise of the music. It’s a one-man operation for the most part. I like the independence of it. You get to know your neighbors and the people who live in the colony quite well after a few years.
