Modi Kirana & General Store

My name is part of the shop, Modi Kirana & General Store. We are located in Shastri Nagar, specifically in Bhatta Basti at the Housing Board, block B-609. It’s a residential area, so my customers are mostly my neighbors who live in the surrounding buildings. I open up early in the morning because that’s when people want their bread and milk. The shop is filled with everything from soap and shampoo to bags of lentils and spices. I don't have a lot of help, so I'm usually the one stocking the shelves and taking the money at the front. It can be tiring on my back, especially when the heavy sacks of grain arrive. The shop isn't modern; it's got wooden shelves that have been here for years and a tiled floor that's seen a lot of feet. I know most of the people who come in by their first names. We talk about the weather or the local news while I pack their bags. Sometimes a kid comes in with a few coins for candy, and those are the best moments of the day. It’s a quiet kind of life, just making sure the community has what they need for their daily meals. I don't have a website or anything like that. People just know where I am. If I’m not behind the counter, I’m probably in the back moving stock around. It’s just a simple kirana store for the folks here.
