Modern Jaipur Saree Emporium

If you find yourself walking through Bapu Bazar, you probably know how loud it gets. Our shop, Modern Jaipur Saree Emporium, is sitting right there at 103. It is not a huge place, but we have managed to fit a lot of shelves inside. Most days, the floor is covered in plastic wraps because we are constantly pulling things down to show people. The air conditioner works when it wants to, so sometimes it gets a bit stuffy. We have been here for a good while now. You can see the wear on the wooden counters where people lean. My cousin handles the back while I stay up front. It is mostly just about keeping the stacks straight, which is a losing battle. The street noise outside never really stops until late at night. Sometimes the tea stall guy brings us over a few cups when the afternoon slump hits. We don't have fancy lights or those big displays you see in the malls. It is just a lot of fabric and us trying to find where we put that one specific color someone asked for ten minutes ago. The sign outside is a bit faded from the sun, but it still says the name clearly enough. People usually find us because they were already in the market for something else and just wandered in. It is a simple life here in the bazar.
