Mehata Tea Stal

If you are driving down the Ajmer Road in Jaipur, you will see us there near the N.H.8. The tea stall is called Mehata Tea Stal and it is basically just a spot for people to pull over and take a break. We get a lot of truck drivers and people traveling between cities. The stove stays hot most of the day because someone is always wanting a cup. It gets very dusty with all the traffic passing by on the highway. I spend a lot of time wiping down the benches. We have some basic snacks too, but mostly it is just the tea. In the winter, it’s nice being near the fire, but in the summer it gets really hot under the roof. We are located in Gram Nasroda. It is a simple setup with a few chairs and the smell of ginger and cardamom in the air. Sometimes the milk delivery is late and I have to tell people to wait a bit. Nobody seems to mind much. They just sit and look at their phones or talk to each other. It is a good place to hear stories from people coming from far away. I’ve been doing this for a long time now. The road has changed a lot but the way people drink tea stays the same. Just a bit of sugar and plenty of milk for everyone.
