Mangal Departmental Store

You can find Mangal Departmental Store right at MG Chauraha, number 80, in the Mansarovar area. Being at a crossroads means we see a lot of different people every day. Some are just passing through and want a cold drink or a pack of biscuits, while others live nearby and come in for their full list of kitchen supplies. The shop is tucked into a corner, and we use every inch of space we have. Boxes are often stacked high, and I have to use a ladder to reach the top shelves quite often. It’s a family-run place, so you might see my cousins or my son helping out behind the counter when it gets busy in the evening. We don't have any fancy displays or bright neon lights. It’s just a standard shop with the usual stuff you'd expect to find. Sometimes the billing machine acts up, or we run out of small change, but we manage. The heat in the afternoon can be a bit much, but we have a small fan that keeps us going. We’ve been part of this neighborhood for a good while now. We don't do much advertising or anything; people just know we are here at the chauraha. It’s a simple life, selling salt, flour, and oil to the people who live around here. We just try to keep the basics in stock so nobody has to go too far to find what they need for dinner.
