Khandelwal Kirana & General Store

Khandelwal Kirana & General Store is situated at 64 Sunder Vihar. We are on Kalwar Road, which is right in the Jhotwara Industrial Area. Because of where we are, we get a lot of people who work in the nearby factories stopping in. They usually want quick things like tobacco, cold drinks, or small packets of snacks. We also keep big sacks of flour, rice, and pulses for the families living in Sunder Vihar. The shop is a bit dusty because of all the trucks driving past on the main road, but we wipe down the counters several times a day. I started this place with my father and now I run it mostly on my own. The shelves are made of simple wood and they are packed tight with everything from hair oil to washing powder. It is a long day, starting from seven in the morning until late at night. There is a small radio in the corner that we keep on for the news or some music while we wait for customers. We don't have a website or anything like that, just the shop here on the road. It’s a lot of hard work lifting the heavy bags and keeping track of the change, but it is a good way to stay busy. We just keep our heads down and do our daily work. It’s a simple way to earn a living in this busy area.
