Karnawal Tea Emporium

Being in Johari Bazar means you are always in the middle of a crowd. Our shop at MSB Ka Rasta 40 is tucked away slightly, but the smell of the tea leaves usually brings people in. We have bags of different teas stacked all over the place. It’s a small shop, and sometimes it’s hard to move around without bumping into something. Most of the time is spent weighing out tea for customers and talking about the different harvests. It isn't a fancy cafe; it’s a place where you buy your tea and take it home. We have a small burner in the back where we make ourselves a cup every few hours. The light in the lane isn't very bright, so we have a few old bulbs that keep the place lit. Fancy packaging or logos aren't something we bother with. We just use simple bags and tie them with string. People who come to Karnawal Tea Emporium know what they are looking for. They don’t need us to sell them on it with big words. Seeing and smelling the leaves is enough for them. The noise of the bazaar is always there in the background, like a hum that never stops. It’s a good life, surrounded by the smell of tea and the sound of people bartering outside our door every day.
