The shop is over in Chandi Ki Taksal, right opposite the Man Prakash Cinema. It’s an old part of town, and you can feel it in the buildings. When a movie lets out, the street gets incredibly loud and crowded, but otherwise, it’s a steady pace. I’ve been sitting in this same spot for years, watching the cinema posters change. Kanchan Watch Company is just a regular local shop. I don’t have a website or anything like that. People just know I’m here. I spend a lot of my time cleaning out the insides of watches that have gotten dirty or rusty. It’s tedious work, but I don’t mind it. Chandi Ki Taksal has its own rhythm. The tea stall nearby brings me a cup every morning, and that’s how I start. My workbench is a bit cluttered, but that’s because I’m always in the middle of three or four different jobs. Sometimes a customer comes in with a watch they found in a drawer and they want to see if it can run again. I enjoy those the most. It’s not a fancy showroom with bright lights. It’s just a place where things get fixed. I keep the doors open so I can see what’s happening on the street. It’s better than being shut away in an office. This is just a basic shop for people who need their watches looked at. I'll be here if you ever need a hand.
