Our shop at 64 Tripoliya Bazar has a bit of an unusual mix of things. We have been dealing in both tailoring machines and watches for as long as I can remember. My grandfather was the one who started it, and we just kept both sides of the business going through the years. Tripoliya Bazar is one of those old parts of the city where everything is packed together very tightly. Inside the shop, you will hear the ticking of many clocks on the wall and sometimes the sound of a sewing machine being tested out by a customer. It is a strange combination, but it works for us. We spend a lot of our time doing repairs. People bring in their old watches that have stopped ticking, or their mother’s old sewing machine that needs oiling and a bit of repair. It requires a lot of patience and very small tools. The light in the shop isn't always the best, so we often work near the front door to get the natural sunlight. We don't have a big team or anything, just us family members and one helper. We know our regulars by name and often spend time just chatting about the neighborhood and the local news. It is a slow-paced life inside the shop, even though the street outside is always rushing by. We don't have any big goals other than just keeping the machines running and the watches on time.
