If you know Jaipur, you know Chaura Rasta. It is one of the busiest and oldest streets in the city. Rajkamal Watch Co is right there at 342-343. Being in this location means we see thousands of people passing by our door every single day. The noise of the traffic and the shouting of the street vendors is constant. We’ve been part of this beautiful chaos for quite a while. Our shop is filled with all kinds of watches and clocks. Some are brand new and others look like they belong in a history museum. Fancy displays or modern lighting aren't found here. It’s a traditional setup where the watches themselves are the main focus. All the repairs are handled right here at the counter. It takes steady hands and a lot of patience. Sometimes customers stay for a long chat while we work on their pieces. High-tech gadgets to track our business aren't used. We still use paper ledgers and pens. It’s the way we’ve always done it here. Chaura Rasta has a certain energy that you just don't find anywhere else. Even when it’s raining hard or extremely hot, the street is always full of life. We stay here until late in the evening. This is a simple business. We sell watches and we fix them. That is all there is to it. Making it sound like more isn't necessary for us.
