Nisha Boutique

If you find yourself in the Johari Bazar area, you have to look for the lane called Ram Lal Je Ka Rasta. We are at No. 2026, right in Pitlyon Ka Chowk. It’s a very old part of the city. The buildings are built very close together and the lanes are narrow. Nisha Boutique is right here among all the history and old walls. It's a small shop that has a lot of its own character. The walls are very thick and they stay surprisingly cool even when it's boiling hot outside in Jaipur. We have a lot of colorful fabrics piled up on every surface. Sometimes they even spill over onto the floor when we are busy. I spend most of my time talking to the ladies who come in looking for something special for a wedding. It’s always about the weddings in this part of town. We drink sugary tea and look at many different patterns together. My assistant, Rekha, is very good at matching colors. She’s been working here for years and knows everyone. The chowk outside is always noisy with activity. You can hear the bells ringing from the temple and the motorbikes trying to push through the crowds. We don't have a fancy display window. Just a simple glass door with some of our recent work hanging on it. The light inside is a bit yellow and dim but it works for us.
