Jai Jagdamba Kirana & General Store

Our shop, Jai Jagdamba Kirana & General Store, is located at the Tampu Stand in Jhotwara, Jaipur. We are at Shop 161 on Khatipura Road. The location is always noisy because of the tampus and the traffic moving towards the main city. Jaipur gets very hot, so the afternoons are usually slow while everyone stays indoors. We use that time to restock the shelves and sweep the floor. We have all kinds of household stuff, from large bags of flour to small candies for the kids. The shop is a bit old, and the walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but it works for us. We don't spend money on advertising; the local people just know we are here at the stand. People often stop by while waiting for their transport to grab a bottle of water or some tobacco. It’s a lot of standing around and waiting, then suddenly five people will come at once and it gets chaotic. We do our best to keep track of everything in our heads. It’s a basic way of living, but it’s what we know. We aren't trying to be a big chain or anything. We just want to make sure the people in Jhotwara can get their salt, sugar, and oil without any trouble.
