Jagannath Suraj Bux

We’ve been here at 178 Johari Bazar for a long time now. The name Jagannath Suraj Bux is what people around here know us by. Most days we are just busy with the usual work that comes through the door. It gets quite crowded in this part of the market, but we are used to the noise and the people passing by. We don't really do much fancy stuff, just keep the shop running like it always has been. My grandfather started things, then it moved to my father, and now it is just part of our daily life. Sometimes the heat is a bit much, but that’s just how it is in the bazaar. We know most of the neighbors and the tea stall guy nearby. People stop in to talk or look at things, and we try to help out where we can. It’s not a big corporate place or anything like that. Just a regular shop where we do our business every day from morning until the sun goes down. If you walk down the main stretch, you'll find us among the other stalls and buildings. There is always something happening outside. We just stay focused on what we need to get done for the day. Sometimes we stay late to finish up the books or organize the stock. It is a simple way of living and working here at Johari Bazar.
