J K Provision Store

Being in Adarsh Nagar at number 45 keeps us busy throughout the day. J K Provision Store is a basic neighborhood shop. We stock the things people need for their kitchens every day. There are bags of flour, jars of spices, and stacks of soap bars. It’s often a bit of a mess because we are constantly moving boxes around to find what someone asked for. When the delivery truck comes, we have to haul everything inside and find a spot for it on the shelves. It’s physical work. My hands are usually a bit dusty from the grain bags. People from the nearby houses come in for their monthly supplies or just a packet of biscuits. We know most of the regulars by name and what they usually buy. It’s not like those big supermarkets where everything is shiny and cold. Here, you might have to wait a minute while I finish weighing some lentils or looking for a specific brand of tea. The fans overhead hum all day long. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just use the sunlight from the doorway to see. We don't have a website or anything like that. If you need something, you just walk in. We keep track of everything in a ledger. It’s a simple way to run things. We’ve had the same wooden counters for years. They are worn down but they still hold up. Every morning we sweep the floor and get ready.
