Iswar Kirana Store

Iswar Kirana Store in Shastri Nagar has been at house 105 in Shindu Colony for a good while now. Most days start pretty early around here because people need things before they head off to work or take the kids to school. We spend a lot of time just moving boxes around and making sure the dal and rice are filled up in the bins. It’s a small place, so things can get a bit crowded when more than three people come in at once. Shindu Colony is mostly quiet, but you get the morning rush when everyone wants milk and bread at the same time. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the narrow street for a bit, and we have to hurry to get everything inside. We don’t have any fancy displays or anything like that. It is just shelves and counters and the sound of the ceiling fan humming all day. My shirt usually gets a bit dusty by noon from handling the flour sacks. People from the neighborhood stop by, sometimes just to say hello or ask about someone’s health while they pick up their household items. It’s just how it goes every day. We keep the ledger on the desk and try to stay organized, though some days are messier than others. When the sun starts to go down, the street lights come on and we get the evening crowd coming back from their jobs. It is a lot of work but it is what we do here.
