Indian Woollen Carpet Factory

Our place is at House No.887 in Dariba Pan. It’s more of a factory than a regular shop, so don't expect a fancy waiting room or any air conditioning when you visit. We call it Indian Woollen Carpet Factory and that’s exactly what it is. The building is old and has a lot of character, or at least that’s what we say when the roof leaks a little bit during the heavy monsoon rains. We have looms and piles of wool everywhere you look. The sound of the work going on is pretty constant throughout the day. It’s not a quiet place to sit and think, that’s for sure. We’ve got workers who have been with us for a very long time. They know the rhythms of the machines and the feel of the different types of yarn. We don’t have a marketing department or a fancy logo. Most of our business comes from people who have known our family for decades. Dariba Pan is a tight-knit area. We know the guy who sells tea on the corner and the family that runs the grocery store just down the lane. It’s a real community here. Our work is honest and it’s often quite hard. We get dust in our hair and stains on our clothes, but it’s a good way to make a living. We’re proud of what we do in this building, even if it’s just in a regular house in a busy neighborhood. We stay busy and that is enough.
